Angela is the Founder & CEO and a junior at Havergal College, she started Ports of Hope in 2025 because she wanted to bring comfort and support to children and teens battling cancer. It is a cause that is deeply personal to her, as her grandfather, grandmother, and a close friend were all victims of cancer. The mission became even more meaningful when Angela was hospitalized at SickKids, underwent lung surgery, and required a chest tube. Through that experience, she saw firsthand how much easier treatment can be with accessible clothing, such as a shirt with a zipper. This reinforced her commitment to providing vibrant, functional port shirts and small care items that bring comfort, dignity, and joy during treatment. Since then, her goal has been to donate a port shirt to every child who needs one, no matter where and free of cost.
In her free time, Angela enjoys traveling, fencing, and painting. She also volunteers at children’s hospitals, participates in Relay for Life with the Canadian Cancer Society, and conducts bioinformatics cancer research, analyzing gene sets to identify biomarkers that can improve cancer diagnosis and prognosis.
